Why Developers & Site Owners Love It

Engineered for Seamless Migrations & SEO Protection

Whether migrating from a legacy static site or building an optimized custom catalog, Static Suffix gives you complete control over your URL architecture.

Preserve Legacy Static URLs

Migrating from Jekyll, Hugo, Gatsby, or custom HTML hosting to WordPress? Never lose years of accumulated SEO backlinks and indexed URLs ending in .html.

Automatic 301 Redirects

Old links and non-suffix visits are automatically 301-redirected to the new .html address. Search engines immediately pass 100% link equity without breaking visitor bookmarks.

Custom Post Type (CPT) Support

Automatically discovers any public Custom Post Type (WooCommerce Products, Portfolios, Books, Services). Toggle .html on or off per post type with zero code edits.

Taxonomies & Category Archives

Full taxonomy support allows you to append .html to categories, post tags, and custom taxonomies, delivering a truly consistent site-wide URL structure.

Zero Database Overhead

Built purely on WordPress rewrite filters. Static Suffix executes in memory without adding extra SQL queries or slowing down your TTFB (Time to First Byte).

Multisite Ready & Safe Flushes

Compatible with single installations and WordPress Multisite networks. Automatically flushes rewrite rules on settings save so you never need to edit .htaccess manually.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions regarding permalinks, SEO, and custom post types

Yes! All registered public custom post types (such as WooCommerce Products, Portfolios, Books, or Case Studies) will be automatically detected and listed under the settings screen. You can selectively enable or disable .html for each post type individually.

Yes! All registered public taxonomies including Categories, Post Tags, and custom taxonomy terms are fully supported, allowing archive URLs like /category/news.html or /tag/tutorials.html.

No. Static Suffix automatically flushes rewrite rules whenever you save settings. Furthermore, starting in version 1.1.0, built-in automatic 301 redirection routes any requests to old trailing-slash or extensionless permalinks straight to the new .html URL, protecting your SEO rankings and backlinks.

Virtually zero. Static Suffix operates strictly at the rewrite rules and permalink generation level via native WordPress API hooks. It does not perform heavy database queries, inject tracking scripts, or slow down your server's response time.

Yes. Because Static Suffix updates permalinks through the standard WordPress permalink filter hooks (post_type_link, page_link, term_link), SEO plugins like Yoast, Rank Math, All in One SEO, and XML sitemap generators automatically output canonical URLs ending in .html.

Deactivating the plugin cleanly resets your permalinks back to your default WordPress structure without leaving residual clutter in your database.
